I read a news story with the title "I met a troll in Stockholm" the story wasn't actually about a troll and the title was probably just to get people to read it. But the title made a spark in my imagination I created the idea that I could make a short film in which there is a troll living under a bridge. everyone sees the troll as a bad person and everyone tries to stay as far away from him as possible. one day a young guy sees the troll and asks him to go into town with him. He is first really anxious to leave the bridge but when he agrees to leave he has a great time with his newly made friend. he is looked at with disgust and people are pointing and laughing at him which is a shot that I could do from the trolls perspective to add to the mise en scene. In the end, the troll manages to save his friend by either saving him from being hit by a car or falling off of something. one other idea I also had was that I could introduce a troll hunter that is out to get the troll from the start which he then gets killed by in the end whilst saving his friend.








 I also got inspiration from a music video by kodaline called all I want.


Another idea I had was that the troll, after being lonely under a bridge or in an isolated place, decides to go out and explore the city on his own where he meets someone who decides to become his friend after seeing everyone else in the city looking at him with disgust. The human teaches him how to act until he becomes to the point where he is seen as normal in society. he then goes out on a night out with his friend where he sees another troll and becomes friends with the other troll.


My last idea is that the troll lives under the bridge with his brother until one day the trolls brother decides to run away and pursue a life in the city. The troll then  lives a few days on his own missing his brother which I could do a montage of showing the troll being sad because of being on his own. He then decides to go to the city to find his brother where he will face some sort of challenges finding him. I would do shots from the trolls point of view of people looking at him weirdly and in disgust. In the end he finds his brother who has become successful in the city which would round out the film and where I could end it.

Why are there short films?

There are many short films made by aspiring directors that have a very low or no budget at all. All short films are obviously not very long and don't usually have a star cast or set. This means they aren't meant to be for long time of entertainment. Short films are usually made by upcoming directors to show off their film making skills. They make these shorts to put on their résumé in hopes of attracting the bigger film making studios to make bigger budgeted, longer films which in turn would make more money. Also, the cast in short films are usually aspiring actors who also can put their short films on their résumé in hopes of being cast for a larger film. Due to the technology we have these days, short films are easily accessible and can easily be put on the internet on platforms such as YouTube. I found some class mates that would be willing to act in my short film. Although the characters in my film are male I will use female actors as they are the only ones willing to do it. Though because they will be wearing masks throughout the film it doesn't matter as they wont be able to be seen throughout. This also helps as because both of the actors aren't going to be on camera all the time, I will be able to have help with the filming aspect of it I will need two costumes for each troll, one for the start where both trolls are under the bridge and living rough and one for the ending of the film where they have finally made it in life. the start costumes will be made to look rough dirty and homeless. the other costume should display wealth and that they've made it in life.
